Only four days to go, and the United States voters will queue up to exercise their rights to elect the Man or the Moman, who would be the ‘Most Powerful Person’on earth for four years.

But whether this ‘most powerful person’would be a Man or a Woman, is being anxiously awaited by the world community, and more than the world community, the people of United States themselves, as this is one of the most closely watched and closely contested elections in recent times.

Is America ready to welcome a ‘Woman President’, and begin the tradition of ‘First Gentleman’, or will there be the ‘First Lady’?

According to news organisations,“70 percent of Americans are either ‘anxious’, or ‘frustrated’ over the election campaign”. Quoting a new poll from the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, news organisations have said that about seven in 10 Americans reported feeling anxious or frustrated about the 2024 presidential campaign. Only about one-third of respondents said they feel excited.

News organisations say that the swing voters will decide the election outcome and that there could well be post-election violence.

On many key issues, Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris are sharply divided, which has spilled over to the electorate. The voters too are sharply divided and the small portion of voters who are neutral, will decide the outcome. Where this group swings, is what decides who wins: ‘Whether it would be a First Lady or it would be a First Gentleman’!
