U.S. to pull out troops from Iraq, Syria

The U.S. and Iraq have agreed to a phased pull out of coalition troops. However, news agencies said quoting Iraqi Defence Minister Thabet al-Abbassi that a final signed agreement on the subject is awaited.The U.S. has some 2,500 troops in Iraq and 900 in Syria as part of the international coalition against the Islamic State group. The coalition will pull out troops from bases in Baghdad and other parts of Iraq by September 2025 and from the autonomous northern Kurdistan region by September 2026. The pull-out would be in two-phases and an agreement is likely to be signed in the next few days, Abbassi said.
