A Bill by Senator Marco Rubio has been introduced in the US Senate for a US-India Defence Cooperation Act. The Bill proposes to treat India on part with US allies like Japan, Israel, Korea and NATO. The Bill proposes exempt India of some sanctions and impose sanctions on Pakistan for promoting terrorism in India.
Currently, Pakistan every now and then receives security assistance from the US. But the Bill says that the US will bar such assistance if it finds Pakistan sponsoring terrorism against India.
The Bill is seen as a possible response to communist China’s expansion of its dominion in Indo-Pacific region.
