U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday approved to provide a $571.3 million in defense support to Taiwan, news organisations have reported quoting a White House statement.

As per plan, the Secretary of State will draw up a roadmap to sue the $571.3 million defense support that would include things like military education and training and other such assistance to Taiwan. The support of the United States to Taiwan is aimed at restricting China from its aggressive overtures upon Taiwan. Taiwan maintains itself as a sovereign nation and the U.S. according to an agreement is duty bound to support Taiwan’s security, while China maintains that Taiwan is part of its territory.

In recent days, an aggressive China has been putting undue pressure upon Taiwan by conducting military exercises around Taiwan, particularly naval exercises around Taiwan and in the East and South China Seas.
