The United States has decided to provide an aid of $202 million to trouble-torn Bangladesh for the purpose of inclusive growth, institution building and development works. A U.S. delegation visited Dhaka on Sunday and committed the support to Bangladesh.

Since the trouble last few weeks, the systems in Bangladesh had been thrown out of place, and the interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus had been seeking support from nations. Bangladesh Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, ousted after deadly protests, is now in India.

News organizations reported that a six-member delegation, led by Deputy Under Secretary of the Treasury Department Brent Neiman, visited Dhaka and took the decision to support Bangladesh.

Chief Advisor Yunus in a television address said that his country had appealed for a support of $5 billion to pull out the country from the present situation of economic stagnation. The United States had been supporting Bangladesh following a 2021 agreement that envisages a total of $954 million between 2021 and 2026.
