As many as 49 Ukrainian people have been released into Ukraine in a prisoner of war exchange programme between Russia and Ukraine on Friday. They were in captivity in the Russian prisons, news organisations, quoting Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported.
The prisoner of war swap was mediated by the United Arab Emirates. "Another return of our people - something we always wait for and work tirelessly to achieve... We must bring home every single one of our people, both military and civilian," Zelenskiy said on X, talking about the swap with Russia.
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was scheduled to meet U.S. President Joe Biden in Washington on Friday and discuss the next steps in supporting Ukraine. This is happening even as Russia has expelled six Britain diplomats on accusation of spying and other subversive activities.
