UK Foreign Secretary visits India

The new Foreign Secretary of Britain David Lammy arrived this morning in India on a visit. He would be holding this evening high level meeting with foreign ministry of India on wide ranging issues that including trade, environment, national and global security among other things. Lammy said that ‘India is the emerging superpower of the 21st century, the largest country in the world with 1.4 billion people and one of the fastest growing economies in the world’.

Lammy was scheduled to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to hold meetings with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval as well as Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal as well, before leaving for Vientiane on Thursday morning.
