U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of bombing Iran if it does not come to the negotiation table with the U.S. over its nuclear programmes, has left the West concerned with France President Emmanuel Macron today convening an urgent meeting of his ministers and experts to discuss the issue.
According to reports, the European allies of the U.S. perceive a growing tension between the U.S. and Iran. United States’ ally Israel has already been engaged in war with Iran, and now the U.S. has reportedly increased its military presence in the Middle-East after it started bombing Houthi rebels. The Houthis who control a huge portion of Yemen, are supported by Iran.
Apart from Iran’s nuclear programme, the Houthi issue too is a cause of possible action against Iran by the United States.
As the U.S.-Europe relation has strained over the days, Europe may not have any direct role in the event of possible bombing of Iran by the United States. But Europe reportedly wants to explore possibility of a quick negotiated deal with the U.S. on the nuclear programme of Iran.
