Trump’s Golden Dome Missile Defence System

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced setting up of a new missile defence system for his nation, to be known as Golden Dome Defence system, expected to cost as high as $542 billion over two decades.

Trump, however, maintained while speaking in the Oval Office, according to reports, that the new system as he expected would be “fully operational before he ends his term”in 2029. The system will have the capacity to intercept missiles “even if they are launched from the space”.  

The Golden Dome of Trump derives its name from Israel’s “Iron Dome”, though the two may not be entirely the same. The Golden Dome will have the capacity to protect the entire United States and will operate heavily relying on space-based technology to detect and neutralize ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missile attacks.
