Trump says Panama Canal Being Operated by Chinese Soldiers, Nominates Cabrera as Ambassador to Panama

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera to serve as ambassador to Panama. Described Cabrera as "a fierce fighter for America First principles", Trump hoped that the appointment will foster economic growth and international partnership.

Trump posted on Truth Social: "Few understand Latin American politics as well as Kevin - He will do a FANTASTIC job representing our Nation’s interests in Panama!"

Earlier, Trump had pulled up high user fee of Panama Canal and said that if Panama did not rationalise the rates, the United States will want to take back the Panama Canal. Trump in a Christmas message on Truth Social said that the Canal was being operated by Chinese soldiers.
