The U.S. military continued its attacks on Yemen’s Houthi rebel groups on Monday too. According to reports, the renewed attack was targeted on Red Sea port city of Hodeidah. At least 50 persons have been killed in the attacks so far.

The Houthis are an armed rebel group who have taken control of many cities of Yemen. They are usually backed by predominantly Shia Iran, and are now fighting in position to the Israel war in Gaza, Palestine.

The conflict between the U.S. and Iran is old and Houthis carry out attacks backed by Iran, according to reports. The United States wants to bring Iran on the negotiation table over its nuclear programme and hence it is trying to put pressure on Iran through its attacks on the Houthis, as contended by analysists. However, in the past too, Saudi Arabia, a predominantly Sunni country, had carried out attacks on the Houthis using the U.S. weapons, but could not bring the Houthis under control.
