Syrian rebels declared they have ousted President Bashar al-Assad after taking over the control of Damascus on Sunday, forcing him to flee the country. With this, the decade old autocratic rule of Assad family has come to an end in Syria.

The Syrian rebels also dealt a major blow to the influence of Russia and Iran, which since yesterday had decided to help Assad to crash the rebellion. The civil war lasted for 13 years and what lies ahead in Syria is political uncertainty.

News organisations reported of thousands of people congregating at a main square in Damascus waving and chanting "Freedom". The presidential palace too has been taken over by the rebels.

The Middle-east, which is already in turmoil due to Gaza, Lebanon and Israel wars, has been added with another cause of concern, not just for the region4 but for the nations which have direct or indirect interest there.
