South Korea's foreign ministry on Monday summoned the Russian ambassador in Seoul, Georgy Zinoviev, to register its protest over reported sending of troops by North Korea to Russia to fight against Ukraine. South Korea asked Russia to immediately withdraw the North Korean soldiers from Russia, news organisations reported quoting South Korean foreign ministry.
According to earlier media reports, Soth Korean intelligence has reportedly learnt of North Korea sending 10,000 soldiers to train in Russia, who are to be then deployed in Russia’s war against Ukraine. The North Korean soldiers are training to use Russian weapons and would be fighting Ukraine with Russian troops using these weapons. Kremlin, however, has previously denied the South Korean charge of North Korea has sent military personnel to help Russia against Russia.
According to news organisations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that Moscow's cooperation with Pyongyang is not directed against third countries.
