South Korea and United States on Thursday concluded a joint 11-day military drill that took place in South Korea territory bordering arch rival North Korea.

The joint military drill had been named Freedom Shield and this drill included many military exercises including river-crossing. Army personnel of the two nations crossed a river in Yeoncheon, a South Korean territory bordering North Korea.

South Korea is a traditional ally of the United States, its arch rival being North Korea, which is nuclear armed. North Korea, on the other hand, is allied to Russia, with whom it holds regular joint military drills.
