Sheikh Hasina's Resignation: Former Bangladesh PM Meets NSA Ajit Doval at Hindon Airbase

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned today and fled Dhaka by helicopter after thousands of protesters stormed her palace. Protesters broke through the gates of her official residence, prompting her to flee the country.

Sheikh Hasina landed at the Hindon airbase near Ghaziabad and is on her way to London, diplomatic sources said. She was received by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval at the airbase.

Bangladesh's army chief, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, announced that the military would form an interim government. At least 300 people have been killed in more than a month of deadly protests, which escalated despite the scheme being scaled back by Bangladesh's top court.
