In a significant development, Russian troops have advanced towards strategic Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk in Ukraine's east and are about to take over the city on Friday.
According to the reports of news organisations, the Russian forces are just one mile outside the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk. The city is strategically important in the sense that the Russian troops once manage to take it over, would be in a position to control supply chain. Earlier in August, the Russian troops had already taken over portions of Kursk region of Ukraine. A huge territory of Kursk region of Ukraine is now under the control of Russia. The next target of the Russian troops in Chasiv Yar, which sits on higher ground offering potential control of a wider area.
