Russian Strike on Kharkiv Apartment Building Injures 21, Triggers Evacuations

A Russian missile strike hit a multi-storey apartment building in Kharkiv on Saturday evening, injuring 21 people and prompting the evacuation of 60 residents, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov. The strike, involving a guided bomb, wounded an 8-year-old and two Year-old.

Kharkiv, located 30 km from the Russian border, has been frequently targeted since Russia’s February 2022 invasion. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the attack and reiterated his appeal for long-range weapons from Western allies to defend against Russian strikes.

Further south, a Russian drone attack in Nikopol killed two people, while in the eastern town of Kurakhove, a Russian artillery strike killed one person, according to regional prosecutors. Additionally, Russian aircraft targeted energy infrastructure in the Sumy region's town of Shostka, which has also faced repeated attacks.
