Russia has accused Ukraine of dropping white phosphorus munitions from drones in September, according to reports of news organisations.
News organisations quoted Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, as saying that the law enforcement agencies had evidence of the use of such munitions by Ukraine. "The law enforcement agencies of our country, together with the Russian Defence Ministry, have received irrefutable evidence of the repeated use of white phosphorus ammunition dropped from drones by the armed forces of Ukraine in September."
Ukraine has denied the Russian charge, making a counterattack stating that Russia used phosphorus in the war. “The Russian accusations are false and nonsensical," Ukraine foreign ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi, global news agency Reuters stated in a report.
