Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that if the U.S. and the West allies of NATO help Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory, Russia will consider it a major escalation. According to news organisations, Putin also said that Russian defence ministry is working on ways to respond if the U.S. and NATO allies help Ukraine in the war.
Russia-Ukraine war has entered its most dangerous phase now. After the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russian close ally China too has openly come in favour of Russia. Ukraine President Zelenskyi has been asking the U.S. and Britain to allow it to use long range ballistic missiles to strike deep into Russian territory in order to bring Russia to truce. The U.S. and Britain, however, have not said anything on this yet.
The Russian defence ministry “is thinking about how to respond to the possible long-range strikes on Russian territory, it will offer a range of responses," news organisations quoted Putin from his statement to Russian state TV.
As President Joe Biden is on his way out, and election for the new incumbent is on, the U.S. appears in no mood for escalation of the war.
