Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a meeting on Friday to discuss closer ties, including defence collaboration ahead of signing of a strategic partnership agreement.
The meeting took place in Russian capital Moscow, upon a visit by the Iranian president, which was being expected for quite some time after the Iran leader took over the reins of his nation.
The two nations are natural allies as they face their common rivals in the West and in the United States, which have placed heavy economic sanctions upon both of them. Russia’s war with Ukraine has brought the two nations further closer. The U.S.-supported Israel’s action against Iran-supported Hezbollah too, has taken Iran closer to Russia.
