Russia Launches Massive Airstrike upon Ukraine, Cripple Power System

Russia on Sunday launched a barrage of airstrikes upon Ukraine that killed at least seven people and caused "severe damage" to the power system, news organisations have reported.

According to reports, this strike was so far the largest in the last three months since August, that involved firing of 120 missiles and 90 drones. Today attack by Russia is feared to cause long blackouts and throw life out of gear as winter sets in.

"Russia launched one of the largest air attacks: drones and missiles against peaceful cities, sleeping civilians, critical infrastructure," Ukraine Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote on X.

Russia-Ukraine war is now more than two-year-old, and though U.S. President-elect Donald Trump had in his campaign said that he will end the war even before he takes up office, if he gets elected, there is no sign of its end coming. On the contrary, the West has resolved to stand by Ukraine against Russia. Today’s massive airstrike might actually be a pressure game of Russia to psychologically force Ukraine to come to the negotiation table to end the war.
