Russia on Tuesday deployed fighter jet to escort Chinese President Xi Jinping to reach Russian city of Kazan to attend the crucial BRICS Summit.

After his arrival in Kazan, the Chinese President met Russian President Vladimar Putin on the eve of BRICS Summit, where Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and top leaders of over 20 other nations including the Middle-East nations like Egypt and Iran are taking part.

According to a report of Hindustan Times, Xi termed the present world situation as “chaotic” and said at a meeting with Putin that “the world was undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, and the international situation was chaotic and intertwined".

China has been a key ally of Russia and as Putin wants to build a bloc counter to the U.S. and its Western ally, China appears a trusted ally. Deployment of Russian fighter jet to escort Xi to Russian city Kazan is indicative of the importance that Russia attaches to China.
