Russia Delegation meets Iran President, Defence Talk on the List

A Russia delegation is in Iran capital Tehran to meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in order to discuss mutual cooperation, including defence cooperation. According to reports by news organisations that have quoted Russian news reports, the two countries are preparing to sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement.

The Russian delegation is being led by deputy prime ministers Alexei Overchuk and Vitaly Savelev, and is meeting with Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian. The talks also will include trade. Both the countries are going through tough sanctions by various blocs in recent days.

This is the first time the two nations that stand against NATO bloc led by the U.S. and allied by the West, are meeting after the fall of Bashar al-Assad, the ruler of Syria. The talks between the two nations are being held at a crucial time when the U.S. and some European nations have already met with new rulers of Syria in order to shape the political course there according to their own interest.
