Prince William of United Kingdom has called for an urgency to act to protect the oceans.

Talking to a gathering at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco, ahead of a special event of the 2025 UN Ocean Conference of France, Prince William said that it was a challenge like never before.

The events, Blue Economy and Finance Forum, deliberated on issues like Investing for Ocean Health, Preservation and Resilience, Financing a Regenerative and sustainable Blue Economy, Transforming Blue Ports and Shipping and Ensuring Sustainable Ocean Governance and Finance.

The heir to the U.K. throne said that what once seemed an abundant resource is diminishing before our eyes. “The ocean is under enormous threat, but it can revive itself.”

The United Nations Ocean Conference begins on Monday in France and will conclude on June 13.
