Pope Francis expresses sorrow over the Burkina Faso massacre by Islamist militants, terms the act as “horrific”

There reportedly is a public outcry and unrest among the people in Burkina Faso over one of the worst massacres in the country’s history, allegedly by Islamic State militancy and silence over it by the ruling junta government. According to information reported by news agency Reuters, quoting relatives of the victims that scores of people had been killed by Islamic militancy in Barsalogho on August 24.

Reuters also said that Pope Francis has expressed deep sorrow over the act, terming it as “horrific”.The public outcry from victims' relatives and religious leaders, is increasing pressure on the ruling junta of the country and situation threatens to worsen in coming days, reports suggest.

The ruling military junta that seized power two years ago, are tight-lipped over the August 24 incident, but accepted on August 25 that massive killing has taken place, though they did not provide the numbers of death tolls.
