Terming the alliance between South Korea, the U.S. and Japan as a "nuclear military bloc", and South Korea an "anti-communist outpost" for the U.S., North Korea, in a meeting led by its leader Kim Jong Un, has decided to adopt a tough self-defence policy ahead of the new year.
News organisations, quoting North Korean state agency KCNA, reported that the North Korean policy is to counteract the United States for its security and national interests. The policy also reportedly aims at promoting relations with "friendly" countries. Progress in defence science and technology to bolster the country's war deterrence too is on the list.
North Korea, an ally of Russia and China, stands as a pivot for non-US-West geopolitics.
