Nobel for Physics Goes to AI Godfathers

U.S. scientist John Hopfield and British-Canadian Geoffrey Hinton won the Nobel Prize for Physics this year. The work they have been given the most prestigious prize concerns the discoveries and inventions in machine learning that paved the way for the artificial intelligence boom.

Hopfield is a professor at Princeton University and Hinton, a computer scientist at the University of Toronto. They laid the foundations for the machine learning that powers AI-based products and applications of today.
