NDFC of India cancels Israeli Film Festival in view of Gaza crimes

The National Film Development Corporation (NDFC) in India cancelled Israel Film Festival in Mumbai after a citizen group comprising prominent actors Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, documentary filmmaker Anand Patwardhan and others led a signature campaign urging the NFDC to cancel the festival in view of Israel’s war crimes in Gaza.
The festival was scheduled to be held at the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) between August 21 and 22, 2024.Other prominent people who pressed the NFDC for the cancelation of the film festival included freedom fighter Dr. G.G. Parekh, writer and activist Tushar Gandhi (great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi), senior journalist Javed Anand to name a few.
