Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has said that Russia poses a great threat to European Union nations, more than the leaders think. According to reports by news organisations, the Italian leader made her observation at a function of European leaders to discuss security hosted by Finland. Leaders of Finland, Italy, Greece, Sweden held EU security summit. Meloni said Russian threat to European Union will not end even with the end of Russia-Ukraine war.

Meloni indicated that Russia may use immigration as a weapon against European Union as Finland shares a long border of over 800 miles with Russia. "We have to understand the threat is much wider than we imagine," Meloni was quoted as saying by news organisations.

Russia-Ukraine was has spanned more than 1,000 days now, and it has engaged the whole of Europe as well as the United States, apart from Russia. The European Union nations often run into disputes among themselves on the matter of the war and their support NATO ally Ukraine. A few days back, Russian President Putin had even offered that he was ready to hold dialogue and negotiate with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to end the war.
