Man arrested in what is being said as an “assassination attempt of Trump”

A man with an AK-style rifle pointed the muzzle towards the Donald Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida as the Republican candidate played golf on Sunday, prompting the U.S. Secret Service to open fire, news organisations have reported.The man has been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh. According to news organisations’ reports, Routh was hiding in bushes and when Secret Service agents opened fire, he reportedly escaped in a black car. The Secret Service authorities tracked down the car and took him in custody.
FBI, according to news reports, is investigating further into “what appears to be an assassination attempt”. The U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were briefed about the incident. Ms. Harris, Mr. Trump's rival in the upcoming election, in a statement said, “violence has no place in America”, while President Joe Biden said the authorities have been directed to ensure that the Secret Service “has every resource, capability and protective measures necessary to ensure former President’s safety”.
Tech Billionaire Elon Musk, in X, questioned why no similar threats were being made against Joe Biden or Kamala Harris. Trump, meanwhile, has thanked the Secret Service for ensuring his safety. Trump had earlier faced another assassination bid during a campaign in Pennsylvania, in which he had actually been fired at. Trump said, nothing was going to stop him.
