As the U.S. presidential race campaign heats up, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and her Republican rival Former President Donald Trump have been trying hard to win voters in crucial battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Nevada.

U.S. President Joe Biden, meanwhile, has reportedly decided to join his Vice President and Democratic candidate Harris in her campaign during the week. Though this would be for the first time Biden would join Harris in the campaign after he pulled off from the presidential race making room for Harris to step in, the incident of Israeli hostage death is likely to cloud the event, news agencies report.

The U.S. President and Vice President are likely to press Israel for a ceasefire, making use of the hostage death incident in Gaza and the massive protests by Israelis against their Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel. After the bodies of the six hostages had been recovered from Gaza, back home in Israel, the citizens are unhappy with their Prime Minister over his non-commitment to ceasefire with Hamas.

The U.S. government, including Biden himself has bene trying to mediate a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. Israel has so far killed over 40,000 Palestinians in response to Hamas’s October 7 attack that killed 1,200.
