Japan and United States want to put a joint military plan in place by next month to respond to any Taiwan emergency, news organisations have reported on Sunday. The plan includes deployment of missiles and other weapons, according to media reports.

The U.S. would deploy missile units to the Nansei Islands of Japan's southwestern Kagoshima and Okinawa prefectures, and to the Philippines, reports have said.

Japan, Philippines and Taiwan are under insecurity due to the aggressive Chinese policies in the region, including in the South China Sea. Japan has often expressed its fears about possible Chinese aggression, while Philippines and Taiwan are already under the heat of China.
