Ismail Haniyeh, the chairman of the Political Bureau of Hamas, has reportedly been killed. On Wednesday morning, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that Haniyeh and his Iranian bodyguard has been killed in a raid by the ‘Zionist entity’. Zion refers to Israeli state.

After Palestinian armed group Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 last year, Haniyeh, who was living in exile in Qatar in recent years, was learnt to be in the hit list of Israel. On Tuesday, Haniyeh was in Tehran to participate in the inauguration of Iran’s new President Masoud Pezeshkian and was seen in the photographs with the Iranian leaders.

Hamas also has issued a statement saying Haniyeh has been killed in a raid at his residence in Tehran.
