Israel on Thursday bombed south Lebanon after it attacked Hezbollah communications equipment yesterday that killed 37 persons and left nearly 3,000 wounded.
According to news organisations, thousands of people have fled the Israel-Lebanon border area on either side after the hostilities began last October. The bombing has increased fear of a full-blown war between Israel and Hezbollah supporting countries.
The Israeli military maintained that its airstrikes have hit Hezbollah targets in Chihine, Tayibe, Blida, Meiss El Jabal, Aitaroun and Kfarkela in southern Lebanon, as well as a Hezbollah weapons storage facility in the area of Khiam.
Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has said that the war was moving into a new phase.Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called on the United Nations Security Council to take a firm stand to stop Israel's "aggression" and "technological war" against his country.
