Iran has so far held itself back from direct attack on Israel with a hope of ceasefire in Gaza, and peace talks where it sees its future role, Iran senior officials have said. Iran is ready for direct retaliation against Israel after the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyen. Iran blames Isarel for the assassination, and Isarel has not said anything on it yet.

The international community has been asking Isarel for immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The U.S. has asked Israel for peace talks, to which Isarel has agreed to send its delegation. But Israel has not effected ceasefire yet.
