Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has denied the U.S. charges that Tehran was linked to an alleged plot to kill Donald Trump and has called for confidence-building between the two enemy nations.
"Now ... a new scenario is fabricated ... as a killer does not exist in reality, scriptwriters are brought in to manufacture a third-rate comedy," Araqchi said in a post on X.
Washington reportedly had ordered probe to an alleged plot by Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards to assassinate Trump, who now is the President-elect and will enter office in January next year.
"The American people have made their decision. And Iran respects their right to elect the President of their choice. The path forward is also a choice. It begins with respect," news organisation reported as being said by Araqchi.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei had said that the issue was a ploy by Israel to “complicate matters between the U.S. and Iran”.
The conflict between Iran and the U.S. with regard to nuclear weapon is an old one. Now that Israel and Iran are involved in the Middle-East war, the U.S. being supporter of Israel has a direct stake in the war.
