Indonesia government will evacuate 16,000 people from around the locality after Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted on Sunday, killing 10 people and destroying thousands of buildings, news organisations reported. Small eruptions continued on Monday too.
The local government has declared a state of emergency for the next 58 days, fearing further volcanic eruptions. Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is located on Flores Island in East Nusa Tenggara province in Indonesia. The Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is one of the most active volcanos, and an alert has been sounded by the government.
According to news reports, volcanic materials were flung up to 6 kilometres (3.7 miles) from the crater, covering nearby towns with ash and prompting residents to flee.
