India’s north-eastern state of Manipur has been put on high alert upon an intelligence input of an alleged influx of 900 Kuki militants from neighbouring Myanmar, new agency Reuters reported on Saturday, quoting Manipur's security adviser Kuldiep Singh.

Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), a representative body of the Kuki people, has denied the allegation and said that the security advisor has been spreading false information regarding the Kuki people.

Violence broke out between majority Meity community and minority Kuki indigenous people last year in Manipur, in which the Kuki people were in the receiving end. The violence between the two groups is yet to die down.
