India’s Modi and Chian’s Xi meet Russian President Putin on the even of BRICS summit in Kazan

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Russian city of Kazan and met Russian President Putin, even as Chinese President Xi Jinping too met Putin on Tuesday.

Apart from China and India leaders, BRICS in Russia is expecting leaders of 22 nations that account for the 45 per cent population of the world and 35 per cent of the world economy, according to a report of the news agency, Reuters.

Mr. Modi, after meeting Russian President Putin said that India wanted peace in Ukraine and that New Delhi was ready to help achieve a truce to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Modi thanked Putin for his "strong friendship", and praised growing cooperation and the evolution of BRICS. "We have been in constant touch on the subject of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine," Modi said, according to reports of news organisations. "We believe that problems should be resolved only through peaceful means," he said, adding that India was ready to provide all support for peace in the region.

On the other hand, Chinese President Xi Jinping too met the Russian President on the even of BRICS summit in Russian city of Kazan.
