Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party said on Tuesday that it had nothing to do with billionaire Gautam Adani’s issue of indictment in U.S. over alleged bribery to secure power deals in India.
Main Opposition party, Indian National Congress, has alleged that Prime Minister Modi and his party, Bharatiya Janata Party, are shielding Adani, a charge the ruling party denied. Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have been maintaining that Adani group gets protection and promotion by the Prime Minister himself, and now that the U.S. Department of Justice has indicted Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani over an alleged bribery case in four provinces of India, government of India should order a parliamentary probe into the matter.
Adani Group on the other hand, has denied the charges and maintains that it is seeking legal recourse to the indictment.
