Thousands of Indian workers today held marches through cities and demanded the repeal of labour laws that they said favoured the multinational corporations violating human rights.

Four labour laws had been introduced by ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the year 2019, though the move had been opposed by labour unions and the Opposition parties. Protestors said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in order to attract investment from multinational corporations from across the globe, had made the laws that stood against the interest of the workers. Laws included provisions of wage reduction, and out-sourcing substantial works.
