Lebanon-based armed group Hezbollah has named Naim Qassem as the new head of the organisation after the death of Hassan Nasrullah in an Israeli attack, news organisations reported on Tuesday.
Qassem, 71, had been the deputy chief of Hezbollah and also the spokesperson actively engaging the world media stating the position of his organisation.
However, Israeli Defence Ministry on a post in “X” said that Qassim’s appointment would only be “temporary”, in an apparent threat to eliminate him. "Temporary appointment. Not for long," Israel's Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said on X.
Meanwhile, an Israeli strike on a residential block in Gaza on Tuesday, reportedly killed 100 people.
