Greenland, mostly covered with ice, is mineral rich and a virgin land for mining activity. However, apart from the U.S., Russia and China have been taking interest in the region and are reportedly carrying out activities—which suggest that geopolitics around Greenland is all set to intensify in the coming years due to the region’s minerals.
The island has a population of only about 60,000 and traditionally has been a Denmark colony, though it has an elected government that runs the day-today affairs of the island expect vital affairs like foreign affairs.
