As France and Britain re-affirmed their support to Ukraine against Russia in the war, France Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said on Wednesday that Ukraine allies should not judge U.S. President-elect Donald Trump with regard to U.S. stand on Ukraine.
The French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met in Paris and pledged to continue their support for Ukraine.
"Facing the speculation on what could be the positions or initiatives of the new U.S administration, I think that we absolutely should not prejudge and we have to give time," news organisations quoted French Foreign Minister Barrot.
Trump during his campaign had often said that he would end Russia-Ukraine war if he wins even before he enters office, though he did not spell out how. He also termed Ukraine President Zelenskyy as the “greatest salesman in the world” who walked way with huge aid and fund every time he visited the U.S., and that Zelenskyy should negotiate with Russia and end the war.
