Food insecurity is plaguing quarters of south American country, Argentina. According to news reports, malnutrition-related diseases are increasing in the people there.

Argentina is passing through recession for years now, which has pushed nearly half of the population into poverty.

Official data of Argentina showed that poverty in the nation has hit 53 per cent in the first half of the year, which last year was 42 per cent, news agency Reuters writes, adding that some 18 per cent people are in extreme poverty, so much so that they cannot afford top purchase even basic food items. More than a million kids have to manage with just one meal a day, and prices of vegetables and other food items have soared sharply.
