Five Countries including U.S. Carry Out Military Exercise in South China Sea

Forces of five countries: U.S., Japa, Philippines, New Zealand and Australia on Saturday conducted a joint military exercise on South China Sea, even as China carried out its own. South China Sea waters is a disputed territory that countries are vying to claim with their might.

In the past days, there has been series of confrontations between Philippines and China on the disputed waters of South China Sea, including the Scarborough Shoal. The shoal has been occupied by China coast guard for more than a decade now.

News organisations quoting Australia's Department of Defence, reported Australia saying as “the drills demonstrated our collective commitment to strengthen regional and international cooperation in support of a peaceful, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific".
