Thousands of devotees visited St Peter’s Basilica, Rome on Wednesday and paid their last respect to Pope Francis, ahead of his burial scheduled on Saturday.

Pope Francis, people’s pope, had passed away on Easter Monday due to a stroke and cardiac arrest. He was 88.

The body of the Pope was brought from Vatican’s Santa Marta guesthouse to St Peter’s Basilica in a solemn procession early on Wednesday and placed there for the people to pay their last visit. Photographs showed large number of faithful moving slowly paying their last respect to the Pope, who left a meaningful message for them all with his life.
