Cuba is going through the worst energy crisis these days. Gas and diesel pumps have been shut for days; and where supplies are available, long queues of people are being witnessed, according to news reports.
The gasoline and diesel short supply in Cuba has come after months of power black-outs in several parts of the country. in fact, long hours of black-out have become all too common in Cuba. Schools, colleges and offices have been temporarily shut as commuting has become difficult due to fuel crisis.
The Cuban government has blamed the 62-year-old trade embargo with the U.S. for the energy shortages, which makes it difficult to import fuel. Earlier, Cuba’s allies Russia and Venezuela helped it to tide over the energy crisis, but Russia is engaged in war with Ukraine and the NATO these days, which has directly impacted Cuban life.
