Colombia Senator and Potential Presidential Candidate Uribe, Shot at

Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe has been shot at and is fighting for his life. According to reports, Senator Uribe sustained head injuries after a minor shot at him from a pistol during a campaign for 2026 presential election in Bogota on Saturday. The Senator is a potential candidate for the presidential election scheduled in 2026.

Uribe's wife Maria Claudia Tarazona said on social media X that her husband was fighting for his life.

Office of the Colombian President Gustavo Petro condemned the attack. Petro, said on X: "I don't know how to ease your pain”.

Nations like Spain, United States, Venezuela have condemned the attack.

Colombia since long has been passing through things like drug trafficking, illegal mining and few other illegal activities—all of which provide funding for various armed rebel groups. The armed groups have been fighting among themselves as well as with the government security forces over various interests since decades now.
