Christmas Turns Dark and Cold for Ukrainians

Christmas turned dark and cold for over half a million Ukrainians after Russia attacked the energy system in Kharkiv region of Ukraine on Wednesday, affecting the people in capital Kyiv too. People froze at sub-zero temperature without being able to use the heating facility in the absence of power.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called the attack ‘inhuman’ while U.S. President Joe Biden condemned it, according to reports by news organisations. "Today, Putin deliberately chose Christmas to attack. What could be more inhuman? More than 70 missiles, including ballistic missiles, and more than a hundred attack drones," Zelenskiy has ben quoted by news organisations as saying. Biden denounced the attack calling it ‘outrageous’ and said that he has asked the U.S. Defence Department for fresh military aid to Ukraine.
